Would you launch a new product without conducting some market research? Probably not. Well we think along the same lines when building new web solutions.
Our ethnographic research techniques focus on the actions and preferences of users, within the context of how they interface with the web. Structured interviews with users (either at home or work) help to identify usage patterns and provide a better understanding of the issues that need to be resolved.
There can be a range of stakeholders who may have differing opinions on what the final success criteria should be. We make it a priority to understand those issues and challenge the rationale wherever appropriate. On intranet projects, this work not only assists in understanding the requirements, but it is a vital stage in engaging senior stakeholders around the organisation.
Based on the User and Stakeholder Research work, our clients often find it useful to validate the results through a questionnaire. This provides confirmation of certain assumptions and proves that the end-solution is based on a broad enough user group.
